Leaving the Nest
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
-1 Corinthians 13:11
Do you remember the first time you moved? You were probably on your way to college, or ready for a brand new start on your own, or "invited" to make your residence elsewhere. No matter the circumstances, that initial plunge from the nest was likely filled with missteps, new concerns, and anxious attention to details that were once another's affairs. You no longer spoke as a child; your living was now entirely in your hands.
It is the same with our journey with the Lord. There comes a time for us all to take the helm and pilot our faith in ways we did not when we were children. A time to step from the comfort of knowing about God into knowing God fully, as He is, in all His wonder.
